Percussion instruction designed to give future music educators the skills needed to work with percussionists and teach percussion instruments. Instruction is taught in a group format with units on snare drum, mallet keyboard instruments, timpani, orchestral accessories, drum set, steel band, afro-cuban instruments, and percussion ensemble.

MUS 158 Supplemental Percussion Instruments — Percussion instruction designed to give future music educators the skills needed to work with percussionists and teach percussion instruments. Instruction is taught in group format with units on snare drum, mallet keyboard instruments, timpani, orchestral accessories, drum set, steel band, afro-cuban instruments, and percussion ensemble. 

 

MUS 130/430 Percussion – Applied percussion instruction for first-fourth-year undergraduate and music majors and minors. The main areas of concentration are mallet-keyboard instruments (xylophone, orchestra bells, vibraphone, and marimba) timpani, snare drum, and hand drums.

MUSC 499 Ethnomusicology Performance Ensemble - Latin American Ensemble - Percussion consultant, performer, assistant director, and founding member of Latin American Ensemble. Performing musical styles from Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. Instrument specialist in Afro-Cuban percussion, Brazilian percussion, and Afro-Peruvian percussion. Further duties include training an apprentice for the ensemble to ensure continued high-quality performance and pay homage to the oral tradition inherent within the musical style.

Percussion Ensemble and Group Lessons — Created and directed Montgomery High School Percussion Ensemble. Performed a yearly concert as part of chamber music series. Conducted bi-monthly group lessons with four levels of percussion groups. Instruction consisted of creating advanced skills in orchestral performance for Montgomery High School students. Also instructed MHS marching percussion.
